The Mill Studio was founded by its Artistic Director, Chelsea trained artist, Piers Ottey, in 1994 in West Ashling. The School moved to a purpose-built studio in a converted Sussex barn in 2000, with the aim of providing uncompromising, cutting edge art tuition in a superb rural setting.

The Studio sits in the Arun Valley near picturesque market town of Arundel, within easy reach of road inks and a regular mainline train service from London. There is an extensive art library and an art supplies shop as well as unlimited parking.

There are six tutors and five resident artists and students of all abilities are welcome to all classes. There is a regular programme of exhibitions and talks by leading artists and figures in the art world, as well as organised guided talks and visits to leading UK galleries and artists' studios, to compliment the variety of courses on offer.
